Turkey beat Croatia on penalties with a dramatic finale to secure their first ever European Championship semi-final spot.

Rustu Recber saved the decisive penalty, with Mladen Petric the unfortunate player who missed. This was fter Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic had already missed. Recber was only playing because first choice goalkeeper Volkan Demirel was suspended after being sent off against the Czech Republic.

Ivan Klasnic thought he had scored the winner on 119th minutes, but Semih Senturk ensured Turkey had their third comeback in a row to force the game onto a roulette game of penalties.

Sanli Tuncay and Arda Turan will both miss the match against Germany in the semi-finals after picking up bookings.
